Maybe it is just me, but I am getting tired of all these opportunistic posts making a strawmen out of JKR for clicks. This must be like the 100th message-identical post about this topic I've seen on medium, and they all share the same characteristic. A) The writer is a victim or claims(!) to have experience being bullied/abused. B) Accuses JKR of being a TERF by strawmaning her, listing evidence of her 'thought crimes' which are factually wrong (like the content of her latest novel) C) Appeals to the unfair power dynamic of having a world-famous author stating her nuanced opinion vs. what the writer thinks is the "right" perspective D) Claims that JKR actively incites/supports violence by her words (which is factually untrue), or that her line of thinking is a "slippery slope" that leads to a world of bigotry (another common fallacy, but not a rational argument). ... at this point, what all these "stories" have in common: They are toxic click-bait vultures trying to get a piece of attention from JKR's high profile. Sometimes, if you have nothing profound to state or argue but your own perceived grievences, maybe do us all a favor and just don't. Might make the internet just a little bit less toxic.
